Robert D. Beyer

Robert D. Beyer is Chairman of Chaparal Investments LLC, a personal investment and holding company. He was most recently Executive Chairman of Crescent Acquisition Corp, a special-purpose acquisition company that merged with LiveVox Holdings, Inc. in 2021. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of The TCW Group, Inc., a diversified, global investment management firm with assets in excess of $150 billion. During his tenure as President and CEO, the firm achieved record assets under management, which doubled, and profitability, which tripled. In 2001, TCW was sold to Société Générale Asset Management, at which time Bob joined the executive committee of the parent company, then one of the world’s 25 largest asset managers. 

In 1991, he co‐founded Crescent Capital Corporation, a leading investment management firm specializing in fixed income, mezzanine, bank loans and distressed securities that was acquired by TCW in 1995. 

From 1983 until 1991, he was an investment banker and capital markets professional at Bear, Stearns & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert. At Drexel, he was appointed to oversee the management, restructuring and ultimately successful liquidation of its $3 billion portfolio leading to the repayment of that firm’s creditors. 

Bob is an independent director of Jefferies Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: JEF), one of the world’s leading full-service investment banking and capital markets firms. From 1999 until 2019, he was a director of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), where he served as Lead Independent Director and Chair of the Financial Policy Committee. From 2006 until 2016, he was a director of The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) where he served as Chair of the Enterprise Risk and Return Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Board. From 2021 until 2023, he was a director of LiveVox Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: LVOX), a cloud-based contact center platform which was sold to NICE Ltd. In 2008, he was selected as an Outstanding Director by the Financial Times. 

Bob is a member of the Board of Trustees of The University of Southern California where he is Chair of the Investment Committee, and a member of the Board of Councilors of the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts & Sciences, where he is immediate past Chair. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Harvard‐Westlake School Board of Trustees, where he is a past Chair. He previously served as a member of the Board of Advisors of The UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he was also a past Chair. He was formerly a member of the operating Board of Directors of Providence Saint John’s Health Center, the Board of Airport Commissioners for Los Angeles World Airports and the Board of the Los Angeles City Employees Retirement System. He is also an investor in and a member of the Advisory Board of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. 

 

Bob received his BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1981 and his MBA from The UCLA Graduate School of Management (now the Anderson School) in 1983, from which he has received the John E. Anderson Distinguished Alumni award. Bob and his wife, Catherine, have four adult children.
